This article is a continuation of the article Add a Lifecycle to a Form.
Access the lifecycle to which you want to add the state
Click on the lifecycle to which you want to add states, and press the button to add states.
Add a new state to the lifecycle
The pop-up window below will ask you for some information:
- Name: Name of the state that the document must go through.
- Maximum time a document must be in this state: This is the maximum number of minutes that a document must remain in this state. If they are final states, do not add time.
- Description: Describe what should happen with the document in this state.
- Groups that can put a document in this state: Only the groups specified in this field will be able to put a document in this state. These permissions are not taken into account when it comes to the first state, since by default, the document is created with this state.
- Create a queue automatically?: Automatically creates a queue that filters documents by this lifecycle state.
- Is it the final state?: These are exit states. There is no further step after them. These states are not the states in which we would like the document to end. They are shown in red in the flow.
Fill in the information and click on create to create the state.
Define the initial state and the target state of the lifecycle
Select in the dropdown Initial State, the first state that the documents that have this lifecycle will have. Likewise, you must select the state with which you want your documents to end if they go down the happy path 🙂
Define the lifecycle state change mode
Select in the dropdown State change mode the way in which you can move from one state to another in the lifecycle. Here you have two options to select:
- With transitions: You can change from one state to another through transitions, which are connections between states where it is possible to configure advanced restrictions that must be met to carry out the state change. You can only go from one state to another if there is a configured transition.
- Free: You can jump from one state to another in the lifecycle freely without respecting the conditioning of the transitions.
Go to the entry to add transitions between lifecycle states.
